Frequently Asked Questions
What is the adequate water to add to your diffuser?
Distilled water is the ideal type of water for the longevity and durability of your diffuser: Distilled water will prevent the accumulation of minerals such as calcium or sodium from building up inside of the diffuser. However, tap water or even regular drinking water is still perfectly suitable for your humidifier, a frequent clean using a toothbrush or even a sponge will prevent any mineral build up in your diffuser and ensure a long life span.
How much essential oil should I use in my aromatherapy diffuser?
There is no precise amount of essential oil, and some fluctuation will surely not harm you or the humidifier. However, it can be found that a good balance is at around 6 drops of essential oil per 100 ml of water.
Why is my humidifier not working?
There are various reason that prevent your humidifier from working:
- The first, and most common, is an excess amount of water in the diffuser. The humidilux aromatherapy diffuser is equipped with a line to show the maximum amount of water for the device. If you surpass this level you will find that the humidifier turns off a few seconds after being turned on. To solve this remove the excess water.
- The second reason for a failing humidifier is often a lack of water. If you leave the humidifier running for various hours the water may eventually run out and your humidifier will be dry. In some humidifiers, like the Humidilux Aromatherapy Diffuser, the motor will automatically switch off to prevent it from failing, however in some other humidifiers the motor will continue running till it brakes or even burns.
- The third reason that may prevent your humidifier from malfunctioning is an inadequate choice of liquid. If you have not used water, and have chosen to use another liquid instead, it may be that this fluid is too viscous or simply inadequate for a diffuser machine. This will clog up the humidifier and require a thorough clean.
